Itinerary
In the morning arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be received by our company driver guide who will take you in a private vehicle to Kampala City tour includes Buganda Kingdom, Kasubi Tombs, Bahai Temple followed by a lunch break at your choice of accommodation: Biyem Hotel in the city. As soon as you reach the hotel, you will check in to your rooms and after that relax at Biyem gardens while preparing for the following morning drive to Mount Mgahinga National Park in western part of Uganda.
In the morning, after breakfast you will be driven southwestwards to Mgahinga National Park, with stopovers at the Equator and at Mbarara town for lunch. You will then continue with the scenic drive to Kabale town through the beautiful Highland sceneries that made Kigezi region to be known as the “Switzerland of Africa”. You will then proceed to Mgahinga National Park for a check-in into the park and your accommodation will be Travelers Rest or Ikaze Hotel in Kisoro town near the border of Congo DRC, the guest will make a choice among the above hotels.
In the morning you will assemble at the park headquarters for briefing from the park rangers about the dos and don't s when you encounter mountain gorillas. You will then proceed for the memorable adventure hiking through the mountainous thick forest, an activity that may take 2-6 hours depending on the movement of the animals. You will meet and stay with the gorillas for a maximum of one hour, then descend to the park headquarters thereafter to your lodge while on the way to Lake Bunyonyi there is Echuya Forest as an option of ancient jungle, the Batwa well known as “The Keepers of the Forest.”
The history of these small people is long and rich. The Batwa survived by hunting small game using arrows or nets and gathering plants and fruits in the rain forest. Some anthropologists estimate that pygmy tribes such as the Batwa have existed in the equatorial forests of Africa for 60,000 years or more. Later you will enjoy dinner at Keije Resort or Kyahugye Island, depending on the choice.
In the morning after your breakfast, you will set off your journey to Entebbe Airport for your flight back home passing through different towns where you might stop for hot barbecue, fruits and have a lunch break on the way at Igongo Cultural Centre.
